It’s time to set the stage for another season of free summer theatre, and we need you!

Your gift to our 2024 SETTING THE STAGE CAMPAIGN will help us to provide free and affordable theatre and arts education across the Capital Region this summer!

Dear Patrons,

For more than 35 Years, Playhouse Stage Company has been committed to ensuring that the live theatre arts are for everyone in our Capital Region community. We achieve this mission by offering free admission to our annual summer musicals at Park Playhouse, in Albany’s Washington Park. This summer, we’ll be presenting the delightful fifties & sixties girl-group musical The Marvelous Wonderttes at Park Playhouse, while also offering free seating at our production of Legally Blonde: The Musical at Cohoes Music Hall.

Why do we need your support for our Setting the Stage Campaign? It’s simple… while we present free theatre, it’s not free to produce! Far from it, in fact. Our expenses to mount our outdoor productions (everything from lumber, to steel, to electrical equipment) has been more expensive than ever over recent seasons! Moreover, since the COVID-19 pandemic, arts funding at the corporate and foundation level have decreased significantly. These challenges are being faced across the theatre industry, but for us at Park Playhouse, rainouts, smoke advisories, and high heat have added to the complexity of providing open-air, free summer theatre.

For all of these reasons, support from individuals in the community who believe in what we do is absolutely vital! Your donations not only support our free and affordable productions, but they also support the on-going training of so many local students who participate in and benefit from our arts education programs annually. Remember, Playhouse Stage Company is not a municipally funded service! It is up to the community to maintain our annual free theatre and arts education tradition in the Capital Region!
