Summer Auditions 2026

Playhouse Stage Company announces auditions for Summer Season 38 and is seeking students, Non-Equity, and AEA actors for all productions in the 2026 summer season.

Audition Dates

January 15–18 and January 22–25, 2026

Audition Schedule & Format

Auditions are open sign-in only. There is no advance registration. All auditioners will be seen in the order they sign in.

• Thursday, January 15 & Thursday, January 22: 5:00–6:30 PM

• Friday, January 16 & Friday, January 23: 5:00–6:30 PM

• Saturday, January 17 & Saturday, January 24: 10:00 AM–11:30 AM

• Sunday, January 18 & Sunday, January 25: 12:00 PM–1:30 PM

• Sunday, January 25 ONLY: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory non-equity open dance call 10am sign in / 10:30am start

Auditioners need only attend one audition window to be considered for all productions for which they are eligible. You may be asked to return for additional callbacks if needed and available.

Audition Location

Playhouse Stage Studios, 95 Remsen Street, Cohoes, NY 12047
Note: entrances are located on both Remsen and Ontario Streets. Follow signs to sign-in location.

Audition Requirements

• Prepare a one-minute (32 bar) cut of a song of your choice

• Bring a complete list of summer availability and known conflicts

• Be prepared to indicate which productions you wish to be considered for

Performers should prepare about 32 bars/measures (roughly one minute) of any song from any musical that best showcases their ability. Please bring sheet music for your song; a piano accompanist will be available to accompany auditions. After your vocal audition, you may be asked to dance in groups - so please be prepared and dress comfortably.

If you have a headshot and resume, please bring a copy. Students - if you don’t have them, that is okay! When you arrive, you will be asked to complete an online form to sign in. Our staff will be available to answer any questions students or parents may have. Note: information about the rehearsal processes will be available at the open call. Please come prepared with your schedule, ready to note any potential conflicts with the schedule, as this is considered as part of the casting process.

Callbacks & Dance Calls

• Callbacks will be scheduled following initial auditions

• Additional dance calls and callbacks may be requested following Saturday and Sunday auditions, at the discretion of the creative teams

Performers are encouraged to review the season in advance and attend auditions with flexibility and openness to being considered for multiple productions based on age/availability.

Available Roles

There are a wide variety of principal, supporting, and ensemble roles in these large productions. All roles will be cast age appropriately. All roles in these productions are available except for the following:

• Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Willy Wonka and Grandpa Joe are cast.

• Footloose - Reverend Shaw Moore, Vi Moore and Coach Dunbar are cast.

Student Program Tuition

Footloose and 13 The Musical are Playhouse Stage Academy productions, and are tuition based. Tuition includes participation in the production and rehearsal process, as well as participation in our series of Workshops and Master Classes throughout each process. As ever, some tuition assistance is available, and an ability to pay is not considered as part of casting.

Professional Performer Compensation

All adult roles are paid opportunities. Housing for out-of-town actors is available. Both union and nonunion performers are encouraged to attend. If you are unable to attend in person, you are welcome to film and send a submission or your performance reel, along with your headshot/resume to ashley@playhousestage.org.

Seeking: Students Ages 9-16 for Child Roles and Adult Professionals for All Other Roles

Rehearsals: May 29-June 21, Tues-Sun, 1-9pm (students join after school) and June 23-28 (Tech)

Performances: June 30-July 26 at Cohoes Music Hall

Student Tuition: $600

FOOTLOOSE
Playhouse Stage Co. at Park Playhouse

Seeking: Students Ages 14-18 & Adult Professionals for Adult Roles
*This is the Playhouse Stage Academy Teen Production - Teen students featured alongside professionals in age appropriate roles

Rehearsals: May 29-June 29, Thurs & Fri 5-9pm, Sat & Sun 12-8pm
June 30-July 12, Tues-Sun 1-9pm
July 14-19 (Tech)

Performances: July 21-August 16 at Park Playhouse

Student Tuition: $1350

Seeking: Students Ages 11-15

Rehearsals: July 27-August 14, M-F 9am-4pm & August 17-19 (Tech)

Performances: August 20-23 & 27-30 at Cohoes Music Hall

Student Tuition: $1250
